Lake Taneycomo Resorts are the home of the best trout fishing in the United States.  Although Table Rock Lake is a warm water lake, it discharges water from the bottom of the lake into Lake Taneycomo at about 53 degrees year around.  This is ideal conditions for both Rainbow and German trout.  The Missouri Department of Conversation constructed the "Shepherd of the Hills Trout Hatchery" at the base of the Table Rock Lake dam and stocks Lake Taneycomo with trout on an "almost every week" schedule.
